Common questions
What is arbitrage betting?
Arbitrage betting (arbing) is when you place bets on all possible outcomes of an event across different bookmakers, exploiting differences in their odds to guarantee a profit regardless of the result. Because different bookmakers price events differently, sometimes the combined odds create a situation where you win more than you stake — no matter who wins.
What is +EV betting?
Expected Value (EV) betting means placing bets where the true probability of an outcome is higher than what the bookmaker's odds imply. We use Pinnacle — the world's sharpest sportsbook — as our reference for true probabilities. When an AU bookmaker offers better odds than Pinnacle on the same outcome, that's a +EV bet. Over time, consistently betting on +EV opportunities produces a mathematical profit.
How is ArbEdge different from other arb finders?
Most arb finders only show arbitrage opportunities. ArbEdge also detects +EV bets using Pinnacle as a sharp reference, giving you far more opportunities to bet with an edge. We also cover all major Australian bookmakers — Sportsbet, TAB, Ladbrokes, PointsBet, Neds, BetRight, Unibet, BlueBet, TopSport and Betr.
How often are opportunities found?
Arbs are rare — genuine guaranteed-profit opportunities across AU bookmakers appear a few times per week. +EV bets are much more common, with 20–80 opportunities typically found each scan. The scanner runs every 60 minutes across 24 sports.
Which bookmakers and sports do you cover?
We cover 10 Australian bookmakers: Sportsbet, TAB, Ladbrokes, PointsBet, Neds, BetRight, Unibet, BlueBet, TopSport and Betr. Sports include AFL, NRL, NBA, NBL, EPL, UEFA Champions League, La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, FIFA World Cup, cricket (IPL, T20, Test), tennis, MMA, boxing, NHL, MLB and more.
Is this legal in Australia?
Yes. Arbitrage betting and value betting are completely legal in Australia. You are simply placing bets with licensed bookmakers at the odds they offer. There are no laws against seeking the best available odds or betting with multiple bookmakers.
Can bookmakers ban or limit me?
Yes — this is a real risk. Australian bookmakers can and do limit accounts that consistently win or arb. Arbing is higher risk for account restrictions than +EV betting. We recommend betting in amounts that don't attract attention, using multiple bookmakers, and treating +EV betting as your primary strategy for longevity.
What bankroll do I need to start?
For arbs, you need enough to place stakes across two bookmakers simultaneously — $200–$500 minimum is recommended. For +EV betting, the Kelly criterion stake calculator on your dashboard recommends appropriate stakes based on your bankroll. Starting with $500–$2,000 gives you enough to spread across opportunities.
How do I place the bets?
For arbs: place the bets shown on your dashboard with the specified bookmakers as quickly as possible — arbs can close within minutes as odds shift. For +EV bets: place the recommended stake with the listed bookmaker before the game starts. The dashboard shows exact amounts for each bet.
What does the Kelly criterion stake mean?
The Kelly criterion is a mathematical formula that calculates the optimal percentage of your bankroll to bet based on your edge. We use half Kelly (50% of the full Kelly amount) to reduce variance. Enter your bankroll on the +EV dashboard and each bet card shows your recommended stake.
